The Last Of Us Part 2
Sony's E3 games last week have been insane, but the one game that stood out, to me at least, was and still is Naughty Dog's The Last of Us Part 2. This game has been enigmatic. The gameplay shows us a much older Ellie, killing her way through a very detailed and realistic level.
My favorite part has to be when Ellie stabs the cult member in the head from under the car. Insane! Definitely a new way to use stealth and to interact with the environment, and I'm liking that.
In The Last of Us Part 2 trailer, there's still a lot more questions than answers. Like, no release date, really? Also there's no Joel, come on. What happened with Ellie's mom? And who exactly are the coat wearing cult Ellie's fighting? Those people are nuts, they sure like to hang and disembowel people. Plus we've yet to see a clicker, what the hell?
Naughty Dog last left us with Joel basically dooming humanity when he stopped the Fireflies from performing a lethal operation on Ellie that could have produced a cure for the Cordyceps Brain Infection. Sure, he saved his surrogate daughter's life, but he also went against her wishes, damning humanity to generations of scratching out an existence against the backdrop of the zombie apocalypse.
Whether or not Ellie bought Joel's lie is still currently unknown, but what we do know is that she seems return pissed. In the game's first trailer, Ellie states an intent to "Kill every last one of them." Wow, don't f*ck with Ellie. While the E3 2018 trailer intercuts moments of tender friendships and romance with revenge and violence.
In a recent interview at E3 it was confirmed that The Last of Us Part 2 is set in Seattle with the return of Factions, the multiplayer mode from the original game. I guess that's cool for the ones who like multiplayer. For me though, it's just not my thing. I prefer the story but that's just me.
